Alzheimer’s Society has been proudly selected as the official charity of the AJ Bell Great Run Series. Together we’re investing in a world without dementia. Together, we’ve got dementia on the run. As the country’s biggest killer, someone develops dementia every three minutes in the UK.
At Alzheimer’s Society, we know the steps it will take to create a future where dementia no longer devastates lives. By delivering vital support services, funding pioneering research and campaigning relentlessly for change, we’re now so close to lifechanging treatments being available for people who need them most. For the first time, we’ve truly got dementia on the run.
Hope is on the horizon but to get there, we need everyone on the team. Because it will take a society to beat dementia. The money we raise from the AJ Bell Great Run series will help us get there faster. Join us.

Almost one million people are living with dementia today. Tragically, not one of them will survive. Alzheimer’s Research UK exists to change that. As the UK’s leading dementia research charity, we are working to revolutionise the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia. And then, we will find a way to cure it. To do this, we’re investing in the best research, powering the most forward-thinking scientists and joining forces with world-class organisations. With your support, we promise we will not stop until dementia can no longer destroy lives. We are Alzheimer’s Research UK. We exist for a cure.
Imagine if you had to struggle to breathe every day just from getting out of bed. Or you were living constantly worried about your heart or scared that you might have another stroke at any moment. Living with the reality of a long term health condition can be confusing and isolating. Every day activities such as picking up a knife and fork, making a cup of tea or leaving the house can feel like a massive challenge. Today, one in five people in Scotland are living with the effects of chest, heart and stroke conditions. More people than ever before need our stroke nurses, rehabilitation support workers and peer support groups. Run for us so that we can support more people to take back their lives, regain their confidence and independence and live life to the full. Take on the challenge. CHAS provides unwavering care to children who may die young and their families, at every step on this hardest of journeys.
We support young people pre-birth to 21, and their whole family, in hospices, children’s homes, and in hospitals. Our staff and volunteers deliver exceptional care to meet their needs, choices and wishes. By working in partnership with health and social care, we strive to provide seamless care across all settings. We are there for families at every step of the way, supporting them in life, death and beyond.
We’re a charity, funded in part by the government, but also by the kind and generous donations of thousands of people across Scotland who care about helping families make the most of the time they have together with their child, no matter how short. This means that as a children’s charity we can offer these services for free.
Together we can make a difference, so that no family faces the death of their child alone.
