Where does the Great Scottish Run start and finish?
The Great Scottish Run 10k and half marathon routes both start on St Vincent Street, and both events end with an iconic finish on Glasgow Green. Check out the route maps here.
How difficult is the Great Scottish Run?
The Great Scottish 10k Route is pretty much a runner’s dream – it starts with a bit of uphill running, followed by 2.5km of downhill and the rest is pretty flat. The half-marathon route has more uphill – approximately six miles of it in the middle – but the final five miles are a mixture of downhill or flat.
How do I track runners at the Great Scottish Run?
Our free Great Run app is the best way to track family, friends and elites. Plus, you can see professional photos as soon as they’re uploaded and get any last-minute updates. Available from the Apple app store or Google Play. Download it here.
When will I receive my race number for the Great Scottish Run?
Your race number, which also contains your timing chip, will arrive from approx. 4 weeks before the run. If you got your hands on a last-minute (on 23 September 2026, or after) or overseas entry, you’ll need to collect your race number from the information point on Saturday or on the morning of event day. Locations and opening hours will be confirmed in the Event Guide, published approx. 1 month before the event.
Can I leave my bag at the start of the Great Scottish Run?
Yes. Baggage facilities will be located near to the start and colour-coded depending on your wave. Allow plenty of time for dropping off, and make sure you fill out your baggage label (found on your race number), detach it and fasten it securely to your bag before you leave home.
Baggage facilities will close 15 minutes before waves start and relocate to the finish. At the end, use your race number to collect your bag from the finish at Glasgow Green. Full details will be in the event guide.
Can I move to a different wave?
If you wish to move to a slower wave then that is fine, simply assemble with the later wave. You do not need to visit the information point. It is not possible to move to a faster wave. Waves are allocated based on your estimated time and cannot be changed.

Keep an eye on your inbox for a ‘One Month To Go!’ email from us with a link to your Event Guide. This has *everything* you need to know. It’s also available here on the website. We also recommend you check again here shortly before the event to catch any updates.
